Construction of Shree National Basic School Bharang Brings Hope to Ichchhakamana

In the remote mountains of the Chepang Hills, Shree National Basic School, Bharang stands as a beacon of hope for hundreds of children. The families here struggle with poverty, living on less than Rs. 200 a day, and the children face the same hardships. For over a decade, Sapana Village Social Impact (SVSI) has worked to uplift this community. After the devastating 2015 earthquake, the school was badly damaged—walls were crooked, roofs leaked, and 274 students studied in unsafe conditions. To make things harder, many children walk two hours every day just to reach school.

Seeing this urgent need, SVSI, FEMI Foundation (Netherlands), and Ichchhakamana Rural Municipality joined hands to build a 4-room school building using the Dream Fund Prize won by SVSI from FEMI Foundation and additional financial support of Ichchhakamana Rural Municipality. Later, SVSI extended the project with the initiative of the government to construct another floor with additional 4 rooms in collaboration with FLCF; Fresh Leaf Charitable Foundation. This initiative has been a part of a broader effort of social impact projects implemented with Poverty Alleviation with Public Participation theme in Nepal, aimed at strengthening local infrastructure and community services. And, the completion of the Shree National Basic School, Bharang buildings represents a big step forward in enhancing educational facilities in rural unreached villages of Nepal, ensuring that students have access to a conducive learning environment.
