From December 7th to 10th, 2023, SVSI - Sapana Village Social Impact, conducted a preliminary field visit to Ichhakamana Rural Municipality (Wards 1 & 2) in Chitwan district. The visit included fruitful discussions with local villagers and stakeholders about launching a new project, “Integrated Resource Management of Water and Ecosystem in the Central Hills of Nepal,” in collaboration with national partner Kanchan Nepal (KN) from Kaski.
This project, implemented by KN and the International Rainwater Harvesting Alliance (IRHA), is supported by the Fédération Genevoise de Coopération (FGC) and SIG Genève, Switzerland. Over the next three years, the project will be carried out in partnership with SVSI, focusing on improving water resources and enhancing the agro-ecological sector in the region. Key objectives include skill development for youth, boosting agricultural activities, and marketizing locally produced agricultural products.
SVSI is eager to work with the five villages—Ghurkesh (घुर्केस), Chhaapdada (छापडाँडा), Kaule (काउले), Tobang (तोबाङ), and Hattibang (हात्तीबाङ). The organization looks forward to continued support and coordination from the Ichhakamana Rural Municipality, local villagers, and regional leaders.
