Kalika Municipality and Ichhakamana Municipality, Nepal — Sapana Village Social Impact (SVSI) successfully conducted a series of capacity-building training programs targeting mothers’ groups and Village Improvement Committees (VICs) in Kalika Municipality–10 and 11 and Ichhakamana Municipality–01.
The training sessions for mothers’ groups focused on promoting awareness and practical knowledge in key areas, including Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH), child nutrition and healthy food practices, and effective household and community-level waste management processes. These sessions aimed to empower mothers with the knowledge and skills needed to improve family health, hygiene, and overall community well-being.
In addition to the mothers’ group trainings, specialized training sessions were conducted for Village Improvement Committees (VICs). These trainings emphasized the important roles and responsibilities of VICs at the community level, particularly in facilitating and supporting various development activities implemented by their respective municipalities.
The VIC training highlighted key topics such as coordination mechanisms, community mobilization strategies, and effective communication between local government bodies and community members. Participants were encouraged to strengthen their leadership capacities and take an active role in ensuring that municipal programs and services reach intended beneficiaries efficiently and transparently.
Through these capacity-building initiatives, SVSI continues to strengthen community institutions, promote participatory development, and support sustainable improvements in health, governance, and local development.
