Icchakamana–1, Chitwan — Sapana Village Social Impact (SVSI) has successfully completed the third and final year of its Single Mother Support Program, fulfilling a commitment made three years ago to empower vulnerable women through sustainable livelihood opportunities.
The initiative was designed to support single mothers in strengthening their economic resilience by providing goats and improving their capacity to generate income. Through this program, SVSI aimed not only to address immediate financial challenges but also to create long-term opportunities for women to build more secure and independent futures for their families.
In the first year of the program, 16 single mothers received support in the form of four goats each. As the program progressed, five beneficiaries discontinued participation due to changes in their circumstances: two women got married, two sadly passed away, and one was unable to continue actively in the program.
During the second year, support was adapted to the needs of the remaining participants. Nine women received two additional goats each to help expand their livestock assets and increase household income. In addition, two women received assistance to improve their goatsheds, ensuring better animal welfare and more sustainable livestock management.
In the third and final year, ten single mothers were each provided with one additional goat to further strengthen their income-generating opportunities and support the continued growth of their livelihoods.
Over the past three years, this initiative has contributed to increasing household assets, improving financial stability, and fostering greater economic independence among participating women. The program reflects SVSI's commitment to community development through practical, sustainable, and locally driven solutions.
"We are inspired by the dedication, strength, and resilience demonstrated by these women throughout this journey," said Sapana Village Social Impact. "It has been an honour to stand beside them and fulfil the promise we made to support them in creating brighter futures for themselves and their families."
As this chapter comes to a close, SVSI remains committed to promoting inclusive development and empowering vulnerable members of the community through initiatives that create lasting social impact.
