Sapana Village Social Impact Launches Plantation Week in Kalika and Ichhakamana

Sapana Village Social Impact (SVSI) has launched a week-long plantation campaign aimed at promoting environmental conservation and sustainable livelihoods in local communities. The initiative, which began today, will involve the distribution of thousands of saplings across Kalika Municipality and Ichchhakamana Rural Municipality. Under the Plantation Week program, SVSI will provide saplings of fodder grass, Amriso (broom grass), lemon, orange, Chiuri, Bakaino (chinaberry), Tanki, and Ipil Ipil to farmers in Kalika Municipality Wards No. 10 and 11, as well as Ichchhakamana Rural Municipality Wards No. 1 and 2. The saplings will be sourced from local nurseries run by individuals who were trained and supported by SVSI in previous years, ensuring community involvement and economic benefits for local growers.

To participate in the program, farmers must have prepared planting pits in advance, ensuring the saplings have a higher survival rate. This approach aligns with SVSI’s commitment to sustainable agriculture and environmental stewardship. The inauguration ceremony was held at Kholaghar in Kalika Municipality-11, where SVSI Chairperson Mr. Dhruba Giri planted a Chiuri sapling to mark the beginning of the campaign. As the Plantation Week progresses, SVSI aims to strengthen community resilience against climate change while fostering a culture of environmental responsibility. The organization has encouraged all stakeholders to participate actively in making the campaign a success.
