SVSI Conducts Orchard Management Training for Mandarin Farmers in Kaule and Chhapdada

Kaule, Nepal — Sapana Village Social Impact (SVSI) successfully conducted a Training on Orchard Management at Kaule Rain Community (RC), bringing together mandarin-growing farmers from both Kaule and Chhapdada Rain Communities.

The training was facilitated by Mr. Naran Prasad Paudel, who provided participants with practical, hands-on knowledge on scientific orchard management practices aimed at improving productivity and tree health.

During the session, farmers were trained on proper cutting and pruning techniques, which are essential for maintaining the correct plant structure, improving sunlight penetration, and enhancing air circulation within the orchard. These practices help create healthier growing conditions and support better fruit production.

Participants also learned how to identify and remove diseased, dried, and unproductive branches. This process is critical for preventing the spread of disease and improving the overall vitality of the trees.

A key highlight of the training was the preparation and application of Bordeaux mixture and Bordeaux paste, commonly used for the prevention and control of citrus diseases. Farmers received a live demonstration on the correct methods of preparation and application, particularly on cut surfaces and infected areas of the plants, to ensure effective disease management.

SVSI remains committed to supporting local farmers through capacity-building programs and practical agricultural trainings that promote sustainable farming practices and improved livelihoods in rural communities.
