This month, SVSI distributed a total of 1,620 plant seedlings across five rain communities in Ichchhakamana Rural Municipality promoting sustainable development and biodiversity. The initiative received substantial support from the Forest Division Office, Chitwan, which provided 1,400 seedlings.
Additionally, 220 seedlings from the farmer's nursery, including Bakaino (China Berry Plant) and Bauhinia purpurea (Taaki Plant), were distributed in Ghurkesh. The distribution included 500 Monkey fruit (Badahar or Artocarpus lacucha) seedlings to all five communities, as well as Chiuri plants (Indian Butter Tree or Diploknema butyracea), favored by honey bees for honey production with high medicinal value.
SVSI also provided Neem (Azadirachta indica) seedlings, known for their medicinal properties and use in creating Type-3 Jhol mal (liquid bio-fertilizer) for farmers. Teak (Tectona grandis) seedlings were distributed for livestock fodder and quality wood. Ornamental Dhupi (Juniperus indica), Bauhinia purpurea (Taaki plant) for cattle fodder, and Terminalia arjuna (Arjuna tree) and Moringa oleifera (Drumstick Tree or Sital Chini) for their medicinal and fodder benefits were also included.
SVSI extends special thanks to the community members for their active participation and dedication in nurturing these plants, contributing to a greener, healthier environment for all.
