Farmers Gain Hands-on Learning from Exposure Visit on Climate-Resilient Agriculture in Kaski

Lead farmers from five RAIN communities of Ichchhakamana Rural Municipality participated in a two-day exposure and observation visit to Kaski district on 24–25 May 2026 under the IRMWE Project implemented by Sapana Village Social Impact (SVSI).

A total of 31 participants, including 23 lead farmers and project staff members, took part in the learning visit. The group represented Hattibang, Tobang, Chhapdanda, Kaule, and Ghurkesh communities from Ward No. 1 and 2 of Ichchhakamana Rural Municipality.

The exposure visit provided practical learning opportunities focused on organic farming technologies, polyhouse vegetable production, indigenous seed conservation, Azolla farming, and climate-resilient agricultural practices. The farmers were able to observe diverse sustainable farming models in real operational settings, gaining insights into both technical methods and community-based agricultural systems.

During the visit, participants also toured the Annapurna Community Seed Bank and Lumle Agricultural Research Center, where they engaged with agricultural experts and observed innovative research-driven farming approaches. These interactions helped bridge the gap between local farming practices and institutional agricultural research.

Participants expressed that the exposure visit significantly strengthened their understanding of organic and climate-resilient agriculture. Many shared that the experience motivated them to adopt improved farming techniques within their own communities, particularly those that reduce input costs and enhance long-term productivity.

The visit also contributed to strengthening collaboration between local farmers and agricultural research institutions, encouraging continued knowledge exchange and peer learning. Through initiatives like this, the IRMWE Project continues to support sustainable agriculture, resilience building, and practical skill development among rural farming communities.
