School Lunch Programme Strengthens Nutrition for Over 1,150 Students in Ichchhakamana

Sapana Village Social Impact (SVSI) has been successfully implementing a school lunch programme over the past two years across seven schools in Ichchhakamana Rural Municipality, Ward No. 1, directly supporting more than 1,150 students. The programme will continue this year in coordination with the local municipality.

To ensure continued improvement and relevance, SVSI recently organized a review, interaction, and menu redesign workshop involving school principals, School Management Committee representatives, community leaders, and local government officials.

The discussion focused on strengthening the nutritional value, practicality, and local suitability of the school lunch menu. Participants reviewed current challenges and explored ways to improve meal diversity while maintaining affordability and ease of preparation for schools.

The initiative aims not only to improve student nutrition but also to support better attendance, concentration, and overall learning outcomes by ensuring children receive at least one balanced meal during the school day.

SVSI emphasized that the continuity and impact of the programme have been made possible through sustained support from Sapana Village Lodge and Riksja Travel. Their long-term commitment has helped ensure consistent delivery of the initiative and expansion of its impact within the community.

Through this collaboration, the school lunch programme continues to serve as a practical model of community-based nutrition support linked with education outcomes and local partnership.
