SVSI Board Visits IRMWE Project Sites, Reinforces Commitment to Fair Pricing for Farmers

Sapana Village Social Impact (SVSI) recently hosted its Board of Directors on a field visit to the IRMWE project sites in Ghurkesh, Chhapdada, and Kaule. The visit provided a close look at ongoing community-driven initiatives aimed at strengthening sustainable livelihoods and rural resilience.

Board members observed a range of practical interventions already delivering results on the ground, including polytunnel farming, productive zucchini cultivation, vermicompost systems, multipurpose nursery structures, beekeeping, Koseli Ghar enterprises, and community homestays in Ghurkesh. These efforts highlight a coordinated approach to promoting sustainable agriculture while creating local income opportunities.

A key moment of the visit was the direct interaction between Board members and local farmers. Farmers openly shared their day-to-day experiences, operational challenges, and immediate needs. The Board took a listening-first approach, focusing on understanding real constraints rather than imposing top-down solutions. This exchange reinforced SVSI’s commitment to community-led development and practical, responsive support.

One of the central discussions during the visit focused on market access and fair pricing. Board members acknowledged that many farmers producing organic and high-quality goods are still not receiving prices that reflect their true value. As a result, SVSI is now exploring more structured solutions to improve market linkages, strengthen collective selling mechanisms, and ensure farmers can secure fair and consistent returns for their produce.

SVSI reaffirmed its long-term commitment to these communities, emphasizing continuous learning, stronger collaboration, and targeted interventions that deliver measurable impact. The organization aims to bridge the gap between production and market value—ensuring that sustainability efforts translate into real economic benefits for farmers.

The visit concluded with a clear direction: deepen engagement at the grassroots level while building smarter systems that support both environmental sustainability and financial viability for rural communities.
