On 6th of July, 2025, SVSI has distributed biomass cooking stoves to households in Kalika Municipality in the presence of Mayor Mr. Binod Regmi, Deputy Mayor Mrs. Bimala Tamanag and other local authorities. A total of 134 stoves were provided where 65 stoves were distributed in Ward 4 and 69 were distributed in Ward 6 to reduce deforestation and minimize harmful smoke exposure for families. The initiative aims to address two critical issues: the careless cutting of trees for firewood and the health risks caused by traditional cooking methods, which often lead to respiratory illnesses due to prolonged smoke inhalation. The biomass stoves, designed to burn efficiently with less fuel, helps to decrease our dependence on forest resources while providing a cleaner cooking alternative. During the distribution, community members expressed strong interest in the eco-friendly stoves, with demand surpassing initial expectations. Recognizing the need, Sapana Village has assured residents that additional stoves will be supplied soon to meet the growing demand. Local leaders and beneficiaries praised the initiative, highlighting its dual benefits for both the environment and household health.
