SVSI Distributes Smokeless Biomass Stoves in Jamunapur

Sapana Village Social Impact distributed 50 smokeless stoves to the families of students from Shree Rastriya Aadhaarbhut School in Jamunapur. The initiative aims to address the health hazards associated with traditional cooking methods, which are still prevalent in many households in the area. The distribution ceremony was attended by school officials, parents, local leaders, and representatives from Sapana Village. This program was initiated by a firsthand observation from Sapana Village's founder, Mr. Dhruba Giri to the community, where many children came from underprivileged families where parents cooked with firewood in poorly ventilated kitchens, leading to prolonged exposure to harmful smoke.

The smokeless stoves are designed to burn wood more efficiently, significantly reducing indoor air pollution, a major cause of respiratory illnesses. This initiative not only promises better health outcomes but also contributes to a cleaner environment by lowering emissions. This is not the first time Sapana Village Social Impact has extended its support to Shree Rastriya Aadhaarbhut School. The organization has a history of partnering with the school, having previously provided students with uniforms and supplementing government funds to ensure more nutritious mid-day meals.

The successful implementation of the smokeless stove project was made possible through a collaboration of local stakeholders. Sapana Village extended sincere gratitude to Ward Chairperson Mr. Sundar Mani Subedi for his encouragement and to the Restaurant & Bar Association, Sauraha, for their invaluable help and coordination on the ground. The distribution marks a hopeful chapter for the families in Jamunapur, replacing smoky kitchens with cleaner, safer, and more sustainable cooking solutions.
