SVSI Launches Coffee Seedling Distribution in Kolbanjyang, Promoting Sustainable Farming and Economic Growth

Two years after initiating its coffee nursery project, Sapana Village Social Impact conducted distribution of coffee seedlings to local farmers in Kolbanjyang, a region situated at an altitude of 1,650 meters above sea level. The high-altitude location provides an ideal environment for cultivating premium coffee, which thrives best above 850 meters. Since establishing the nursery, Sapana Village has worked towards the preparation of healthy, high-quality seedlings while equipping farmers with the knowledge needed for successful coffee cultivation. Over the past year, SVSI has conducted multiple training sessions on coffee farming, processing techniques, and sustainable agricultural practices. To further inspire participants, a field visit was arranged to established coffee farms in Pokhara, allowing farmers to observe best practices and gain practical insights.

The coffee plantation initiative aligns with SVSI’s working areas of environmental conservation and economic empowerment. By promoting coffee farming, the project aims to reduce deforestation while tapping into the growing demand for coffee in domestic and international markets. To ensure farmers have a reliable income source, Sapana Village has committed to purchasing their coffee harvests once production begins, providing a secure and fair-trade market.
